In 1979 I came to Atlanta, Georgia and found a temporary job in a furniture repair shop where I soon discovered my talent for woodcarving.

A year later, a friend of mine introduced me to the exhibit building business, which serviced the many trade shows in Atlanta. I applied my skills to building and sculpting props and models for trade show exhibits and film production companies.

Today, I now have a studio and shop where I live and work in Alabama, located approximately 60 miles west of Atlanta, GA.

Architectural model of the World Congress Center

in Atlanta that I was commissioned to build.

It is approximately 36 inches long completely built from scratch.

The restoration process

Architectural details such as this can be reproduced

in plaster, faux stone etc.

Here's how it's done.

These plaster ornaments suffered fire and water damage.

Molds were made from the originals and then new plaster

castings were made. Castings of original carvings can also
be cast in synthetic resins to look like stone, bronze, etc.

Plaster is stained to match the wood around it.

This was an original Chippendale China cabinet without a top.
I researched and designed this top from original
drawings by Thomas Chippendale

It had a broken pediment with perforated carvings in the
Chippendale style.

A prop for a movie set: a blacksmith anvil and tools
made from urethane foam.

These are two 'seraphim' that I carved out of urethane foam.

They go atop of an Arc of the Covenant display for a local church.
(shown here unpainted.)

Two stylized swordfish that went on top of a trade show
display for a sun glass company.

A 12 foot diameter globe for a Universal Pictures exhibit built of
fiberglass in 8 sections and illuminated from within. I carved all the
continents for this job and reproduced them out of clear fiberglass.

Movie props: Urethane foam trees

This tree eventually held a tree house.

Coca Cola bottle 16 feet high made of foam and fiberglass.

Jaws of a megaldon shark (about 6 ft wide by 8 ft tall)
for a museum.

A nine foot tall trash can carved out of white foam
for a Sesame Street display.

Architectural details and furniture restoration

The top of this mirror frame was destroyed in a fire.
It was used in a promotional film for HGTV to demonstrate
wood carving and furniture restoration.

This is an antique walnut corner cupboard
which was burned in a fire.

I replaced the burned parts with
new ones and blended everything to match.

The bottom part is original but the top was totaly destroyed in
a fire. The top shown here is a faithful reproduction. It involved
wood carving and book-matched walnut burl veneer on the doors.
